New York State, like most states, restricts the transport of firewood to prevent the spread of insects. Generally, no wood can be transported more than 50 miles from harvest point unless processed by an approved method. All Simply Wood products have met and exceeded the NYS Standards.

The United States Department of Agriculture has also recognized risks of transporting harvested wood. The USDA has guidelines to help ensure that the risks associated with insects and other threats are eliminated. All Simply Wood products meet and exceed these standards.

One of the most important things when building a fire is airflow. When building your fire, you should try to create air space underneath the wood by placing it on a grate or other object to lift it off of flat surfaces.
My name is Skip Johnson. It was the Summer of 2012 when I overheard a couple of guys talking about firewood and the difficulties they had with it. As someone who grew up using firewood for enjoyment, cooking and heating I found their conversation intriguing.
